Sri Tushar Talukdar
‘মম এক হাতে বাঁকা বাঁশের বাঁশরী আর হাতে রণতূর্য’ কাজি নজরুলের এই পংক্তির মূর্ত রূপ ছিলেন। হাতে বাঁশি না থাকলেও তাঁর রন্ধ্রে রন্ধ্রে ছিল সংগীত আর অবশ্যই অন্য হাতে অস্ত্র। পরনে পুলিশের পোশাক, কলকাতা পুলিশের সর্বোচ্চ পদ, কমিশনার (১৯৯২ থেকে ১৯৯৬) – শ্রী তুষার তালুকদার। জগদ্বন্ধু ইনস্টিটিউশনের প্রাক্তন ছাত্র। ১৯৫৬ সালে স্কুল ফাইনাল পরীক্ষায় আরেক কৃতী ছাত্র তমোহর রায়-এর সঙ্গে যৌথ ভাবে দশম স্থান অধিকার করেন। সুবক্তা শ্রী তালুকদার ছাত্রজীবন থেকেই বিতর্কসভায় অংশগ্রহণ করে সাফল্যের নজির রেখেছেন। পুলিশ কমিশনার পদে আসীন হওয়ার সময়েই আমাদের প্রাক্তনীদের উদ্যোগে এই অ্যালামনি অ্যাসোসিয়েশন তৈরি করার প্রক্রিয়া শুরু হয়। অন্যতম প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সদস্য ছিলেন তুষারদা। অত ক্ষমতাসীন পদে থেকেও সময় দিয়ে, উপদেশ দিয়ে এবং আরও অনেক ভাবে এই অ্যাসোসিয়েশন গড়ে তোলার অন্যতম সদস্য ছিলেন তিনি। অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের অনুষ্ঠানে কালজয়ী সুরকার শ্রী সলিল চৌধুরিকে আনার ব্যাপারে তাঁর বড় ভূমিকা ছিল। পরবর্তী কালে ২০১১ থেকে ২০১৩ অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সভাপতি। সেটা ছিল আমাদের বিদ্যালয়ের শতবর্ষ। শতবর্ষ উদযাপন কমিটির হাল ধরেছিলেন দক্ষ প্রশাসকের ভূমিকায়। ফলস্বরূপ, শতবর্ষ উদযাপন অত্যন্ত সফল হয়েছিল এবং অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের তরফে দুটি উল্লেখযোগ্য প্রকল্পের অন্যতম রূপকার ছিলেন তিনি। আমাদের সকলের প্রিয় সর্বজনশ্রদ্ধেয় মাস্টারমশাই শ্রী জ্যোতিভূষণ চাকী ছাত্রবন্ধু প্রকল্প এবং আরেকজন দিকপাল শিক্ষক শ্রী উপেন্দ্রনাথ দত্ত মেমোরিয়াল লেকচার¬¬—বর্তমানে অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের অন্যতম প্রধান দুটি কর্মসূচি। বিদ্যালয়ের পরিচালন সমিতি (Managing Committee)-র সভাপতি হিসাবেও সক্রিয় ভূমিকা পালন করেছিলেন তিনি। সংগীত সাহিত্য ও সামাজিক কাজকর্ম ছিল তাঁর মানসিক অবলম্বন। এক সময়ে মহাশ্বেতা দেবী ও মিঠুন চক্রবর্তীর সঙ্গে “আমরা” নামক সংগঠন থেকে শুরু করে দেবব্রত বিশ্বাস স্মরণ কমিটি সব জায়গাতেই অন্যতম কর্ণধার ও আন্তরিক সাংগঠনিক। সাহিত্যপ্রেমী তুষারদা এত কর্মকাণ্ডের মধ্যেও কয়েকটি তথ্যসমৃদ্ধ ও সুখপাঠ্য বই লিখে গেছেন যার মধ্যে সম্প্রতি প্রকাশিত - আমার যা কিছু। সৌমিত্র চট্টোপাধ্যায়, সুচিত্রা মিত্র, হেমন্ত মুখোপাধ্যায়ের মতো অনেক গুণী মানুষের সঙ্গে অন্তরঙ্গ সাহচর্যের টুকরো টুকরো কাহিনির এই সংকলন বাংলা সংস্কৃতি জগতে অত্যন্ত সমাদৃত। তুষারদার উপদেশ, সহযোগিতা, অনুপ্রেরণা আমাদের অ্যাসোসিয়েশনকে সমৃদ্ধ করেছে। আমরা তাঁর কাছে কৃতজ্ঞ। আজ, ৯ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৪ বেলা ১২.১২, আমাদের ছেড়ে চলে গেলেন তুষারদা। শুধু আমাদের নয়, বিংশ-একবিংশ শতাব্দীর সমগ্র কলকাতাবাসী ও বাঙালির মনে শ্রী তুষার তালুকদার এক চিরস্থায়ী আসন নিশ্চিত করে গেলেন।
Ambidexterity is the word that suits him best. He was a hardliner as an IPS officer and a connoisseur of music and literature with a high sense of aesthetics. In his career he attained the highest position of Kolkata Police i.e. the Commissioner of Kolkata Police for the period 1992-1996. Our beloved and revered alumnus Sri Tusharkanti Talukdar, jointly with Tamohar Roy stood 10th in the school final in 1956. Sri Talukdar, a good orator, made his mark in various debate sessions since his school days. A number of old students of Ballygunge Jagadbandhu Institution started the process of forming an alumni association while Sri Talukdar was in the chair of the Police Commissioner. He was one of the founder members. Despite his tremendous busy schedule he joined his hands for the association to come into being. Since inception he spent time, provided advice and guidance and many more for the association till his last date. In a cultural function of our association he played the pivotal role in bringing the legendary musician Sri Salil Chowdhury. Sri Talukdar became the president of the association in 2011 which was the centenary year of our school. The centenary celebration was successful under his leadership and guidance. Two of the association’s remarkable projects were launched that time — Jyotibhushan Chaki Chhatrabandhu Prakalpa, a sponsorship program for primary students under financial stress and Upendranath Dutta memorial lecture. Sri Talukdar has been very active when he was the president of the Mangaing Committee of our school. He had a great passion for music, literature and various cultural activities. Once he along with Mahasweta Devi and Mithun Chakraborty established Amra, a social organisation. He was seriously involved in and steered many other organisations such as Debabrata Biswas Smaran Committee etc. In spite of his busy schedule Tusharda wrote a number of books which are informative and pleasant reading, the latest one is amar ja kichhu. There he reminisced various moments of his intimacy with personalities like Soumitra Chattopadhyay, Suchitra Mitra, Hemanta Mukherjee and some others. This collection has gained good readership and earned praise. His guidance and advices have always inspired us and enriched our association. We are indebted to him in many ways. Today the 9th of December, 2024 he breathed his last at around 12 p.m. His mortal self left us but he will be remembered by all of our alumni and people of Kolkata and Bengal by and large with a reverential awe.
